acknowledgments
Not to get ahead of myself, but the current draft of my thesis contains a big blank page on page V. That's where you're supposed to write your acknowledgments. This reminds me of high school when I had to think of something to write for the yearbook in grade 12. It seems so serious and...permanent. I'm really at a loss for words. I don't want it to sound like a bad Emmy acceptance speech. Can anyone direct me to some acknowledgments that are interesting, clever, maybe even witty and memorable? Or perhaps you can suggest your own in the comments here.

how about something to do with the missionary position. and how you need to be productive from the bottom up.
i was pretty much unflowery and to the point in mine. They get long anyway with all the academically-related people you have to thank. A few nice but non-emotional lines for the parents.
I mentally thanked myself for this when I flipped through my thesis last april. Would've been embaressing to see anything more.

Dean, the template you so kindly shared with me started with "I'd like to thank my agent." I will buy you lunch if you KEEP THAT on your thesis for publishing!!
i have to admit, mine was sorta personal. i had a hard time writing it as well because it was so "permanent." what if i left someone out?! should i thank god?! look at it as a snapshot of your life right now and thank those who helped you get there (there being with a finished thesis).
